Instructions - Rear Upper Control Arm (Rear UCA) (ISUZU MUX 2012-2020 Onwards & RG7 Colorado / Trailblazer 2012-2020)) Posted on 2 May 17:19
Installation Guide:
The installation of these Upper Control Arms requires good mechanical knowledge and tools. It is important to follow these instructions, including reviewing engineering information at the bottom of this post.
N.B: Be very careful when working underneath your vehicle, ensure you are correctly using jack stands or the hoist locks if working on a hoist. Ensure the Ignition is switched off for at least 30 seconds before disconnecting any wiring connections.
Munji Recommended Wheel Alignment Specs REAR AXLE:
- Thrust Angle: 0 Degrees
TOOLS REQUIRED:
- 19mm Spanner
- Socket Set
- Allen Keys
STEPS:
- Observe the angle of your pinion from diff and output shaft of gearbox with the vehicle at ride height. Ideally the pinion angles should be parallel, or within 3 degrees, as seen on the red lines in the photo below. Take note of which way the diff pinion may need to be rotated. If it needs to be rotated up, you will want to adjust the MUNJI UCA longer then factory. If it needs to be rotated down, you will want to adjust the MUNJI UCA shorter then factory.
- Lift rear of vehicle until the wheels are off the ground and place jack stands under the chassis. You want the rear axle to be at full droop to take the weight off the rear control arms. Remove the rear wheels.
- Using a 10mm socket, remove the ABS line bracket from off the factory Rear Upper Control Arm (RUCA). If you have a 2017-2020 LST MUX with the LED headlights, there is a self levelling sensor on the driver side RUCA that also needs to be removed with a 12mm Socket.
- Using a 19mm spanner and socket, remove the bolts holding the factory RUCA in. Swap in your MUNJI RUCA with the adjustable rose Joint facing the front of the vehicle, adjusted to the length that you require. Begin by adjusting 1 full turn in or out compared to the factory arm, and note the pinion change. Refit the 19mm bolts and nuts by hand, DO NOT fully tighten them yet.
- Refit the ABS line with the supplied M6 Stainless bolts and if your vehicle has it, fit the headlight self levelling sensor to the supplied bracket and bolt the bracket to the RHS RUCA.
- Fit the wheels back on and lower the car back onto the ground under its own weight. Observe the pinion angle and adjust as needed. To adjust, lift the vehicle up, remove the bolt from the front side of the arm with the adjustable rose joint and turn it in or out 1 full turn. Always adjust both sides the same.
- Once the pinion angle is correct, fully tighten the 19mm bolts and nuts holding the RUCA in and the locking nut on both adjustable rose joints and you're done!

All the best with your 4wheeling. Stay safe.
ENGINEERING INFORMATION:
Once the upper control arms are fitted, the arms need to be Mod-plated/Engineered by a Relevant Signatory/Engineer in their State/Territory to be compliant for on-road use. We have had the testing done and the arms have passed in QLD. This is up to you as the customer to complete.
You can view the vehicle control arm load test report here. (TO BE UPDATED)
