Instructions - Rear Diff Shield (Isuzu D-Max & Mazda BT-50 2020 onwards and MUX 2021 onwards (Only - 4JJ3) Posted on 20 Jan 10:44

Installation Guide:

The installation of this Rear Diff Shield requires good mechanical knowledge and tools. It is important to follow these instructions.

N.B: Be very careful when working underneath your vehicle, ensure you are correctly using jack stands or the hoist locks if working on a hoist. Ensure the Ignition is switched off for at least 30 seconds before disconnecting any wiring connections.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

  • Socket Set - 3/8 Drive Preferably
  • 24mm Socket
  • Gasket Maker/ Sealant

STEPS:

  1. Begin by removing the 24mm Rear Diff Fill Plug, followed by the 24mm rear diff drain plug. Drain all oil out of the rear diff, then refit the oil drain plug and retighten. Loosely fit the fill plug to prevent debris from entering.
  2. Remove the 3x 14mm Bolts circled below.
  3. Fit up the Rear Diff Shield by fitting it over the diff drain bung, then pushing it over the front of the Diff Centre. You will need to tap it on using a soft mallet in these areas, until the bolt holes line up on the front. This cover is a tight fit to minimise the amount of ground clearance lost, so take your time when fitting it.
  4.  Refit the 3x 14mm Bolts to your Diff with a small amount of Gasket Maker/Sealant to the threads to prevent Oil from leaking out. Using a 3/8 14mm NON-Impact socket, you will be able to tighten the reccessed bolt up. Torque all 3x 14mm bolts to 73nm.
  5. You can now refill your diff with your chosen 80W-90 diff oil, and torque the fill plug to 78nm. That's it, your done!
  6. If you need to remove the cover for work on your diff simply pry between the cover and the diff as shown and it will pop off.
